Cyrus Gale Barnes, 91, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away at his home Sunday, May 28, 2017. He was born June 1, 1925 in Thompson Missouri to Raymond Thomas and Vera Margaret (Dempsey) Barnes. He married Faye Seybolt on January 31, 1948 in Overland, Missouri and she preceded him in death in 2015.
He graduated from Ritenour High School in 1944 and overcame great odds after the war, rising from lineman with Southwestern Bell to a third level executive position. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received five bronze stars.
Survivors include son, Lyn (Joy) Barnes, Denver, Colorado; daughter, Joan (Bob) Silvers, St. Joseph, Missouri; five grandchildren: Diana Reiter (Mark), Matt (Rona) Silvers, Gabe and Rachel (Blasdel) Silvers, Chris and Jack Barnes and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a grandson, three brothers and one sister. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Savannah.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Breit- Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, Missouri. Public visitation and family receiving hours will be 12:00-1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
