Betty Jean Hart St. Joseph, MO passed from this life on Friday, June 3, 2016 at her home in St. Joseph, MO. She was born December 27, 1935 in St. Joseph, MO to Lloyd & Beatrice (Rhoades) Gillespie.She was a graduate of Lafayette High School. On July 9, 1960 in Wathena, KS she married James R. Hart and he preceded her in death in 2008. She worked at Meade Products for 30 yrs.
Betty loved her family and friends. She enjoyed bingo, fishing, camping, and anything to do with gardening.
Survivors include her three sons, Alan Wells of Altoona, AL, Jay Dee & Janet Hart of Gallatin, MO, and Robert Hart of St. Joseph; three daughters, Evelyn & Dave Skidmore of St. Joseph, Lynda & Thad LickHart of St. Joseph, and Cindy & Johnny Truesdale of Savannah, MO; 17 grandchildren, Tina Kavanaugh, Wendy Massie, Shawn Wells, Jacob Hart, Jessica Hart, Alex Hart, Terny Wilson, Kayla Skidmore, Janessa Pierce, Colby Cruz, Kevin Cruz, Kyrstin LickHart, Lyndsey LickHart, Hayden LickHart, Joel Truesdale, Maggie Truesdale, Billy Truesdale and 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Gilbert. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd & Beatrice Gillespie, husband, James R. Hart, Brother, Bill Gillespie, and great-grandson, Declan Lee Pierce.
A Memorial visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MO. Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
