Betty (Harter) Garrett, 83, of Barnard, MO passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Savannah, MO. She was born in Troy, KS on February 2, 1934 to Paul & Hazel (Thomas) Harter. She married James Robert "Bob" Garrett November 27, 1958 in Fanning, KS and he preceded her in death on September 23, 2017.
Betty was an amazing humanitarian and served her community. She was a dedicated mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved and helped everyone as Jesus would have wanted her to. She was a life long dedicated member of the Community of Christ Church.
She is survived by one son, Jim (Veronica) Garrett of Olathe, KS; two daughters, Kelly (Lehman) Heaviland of Independence, MO, and Julie (Rex) Allen of Miller, MO; two brothers, Robert (Chris) Harter of Columbus, OH, and Donald Harter of Troy, KS; two sisters, Nancy (Bob) Krahl of Westwood, KS and Sharon (Keith) Bauman of Wathena, KS; eight grandchildren, Kelsey (Jeff) Smith, Emily (Brenden) Richardson, Evan Garrett, Clay Allen, Elizabeth Garrett, Lehman Heaviland, Joy Heaviland, Reagan Ekasala, two great-grandchildren, Cade and Beau Smith. As well as, many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, November 8, 2017, 10:00am at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah. Visitation and family receiving hours will be Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 6:00-8:00PM at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home. Burial will be at Bethany Church Cemetery in rural Barnard, MO. Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home of Savannah overseeing local arrangements.
