Betty Duncan
Betty Jean (Assel) Duncan, a longtime resident of Fillmore, MO passed away July 20, 2015 in Cassville, MO where she had been living with her daughter Deborah Fanning and her husband Bill. Mrs. Duncan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ollie V. Assel was born October 14, 1922 in Harrison County MO. She was a graduate of Hamilton MO High-School and Missouri Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in St. Joseph, MO. During her time in nurses training she was also in the Home Front Army Nurse Corps, caring for wounded soldiers transferred to St. Joseph, MO for treatment. She had postgraduate schooling in Obstetrical Nursing in Chicago and returned to Missouri Methodist Hospital as an Obstetrical Supervisor and an instructor.
